bioderma hydrabio creme

Are you looking for a moisturiser for your dry, dehydrated skin that

  • Isn’t full of mineral oil?
  • Doesn’t leave a greasy residue on your skin all day?
  • Won’t make pimples rear their ugly heads on your face?

Bioderma Hydrabio Creme fits all these criteria. Here’s how it fares:

What’s In Bioderma Hydrabio Creme?

NIACINAMIDE TO… EVERYTHING

A form of Vitamin B3, niacinamide it’s the most versatile ingredient in skincare. It doesn’t matter what your skin type is or what you’re dealing with, niacinamide can help:

HYALURONIC ACID TO HYDRATE SKIN

This cream uses Sodium Hyaluronate, a form of Hyaluronic Acid that better penetrates your skin.

Its job? It’s a moisture magnet that draws water from the environment and binds it into your skin. It’s so powerful, it can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water!

Extra moisture = plumper and brighter skin.

P.S. Sodium Hyaluronate isn’t the only moisture magnet here. Glycerin does the same thing, but on a smaller scale.

SILICONES TO SMOOTH OUT SKIN

I know a lot of you don’t like silicones, but hear me out here. Silicones do a lot of good things in skincare:

  • Enhance texture: They allow the cream to glide on smoothly, without tugging or pulling.
  • Fill in fine lines and wrinkles: It’s a trick to make them look temporarily smaller.
  • Softens skin: It makes it feel silky soft to the touch.

They don’t even cause pimples: silicones have a particular molecular structure made up of larger molecules with wider spaces between each molecule. They create a barrier that keeps moisture in but still allows skin to perspire.

But if you use anything comedogenic before this cream, then yes, silicones can trap them underneath their protective barrier and cause breakouts.

Bottom line: don’t use comedogenic ingredients in your skincare and you’ll be fine.

Texture

Rich, yet fast-absorbing. Doesn’t leave a tacky residue behind.

Fragrance

Clean. Subtle.

How To Use It

In the AM, after serum and before sunscreen. At night, it’s the last step of your skincare routine.

Performance & Personal Opinion

I admit than when I first applied Bioderma Hydrabio Creme onto my skin, I worried the rich texture would take ages to sink in and leave my skin feeling tacky. Thankfully, that didn’t happen – not even on my oilier t-zone.

This cream sinks in quickly without leaving any greasy residue behind. And even though I prefer to use richer moisturisers at night, it does make a good base for makeup.

But does it hydrate dry skin? Yep. I slather it on in the evening and when I wake up the next morning, my skin is softer to the touch. Even better, it looks plumper. I like that because the plumper your skin is, the smaller your fine lines look to the naked eye.

I don’t really find it retexturing, but the extra moisture makes skin a little dewier. What can I say? Your skin is made up of about 60% water, so the more it has, the better it looks and feels.

You’ve guessed it, it’s best suitable for dry, dehydrated skin, even if it’s acne-prone. This baby didn’t give me a single zit.

Who Is This For?

Dry skin.

Who Is This Not For?

Oily and acne-prone skin.

Packaging

An eye-catching blue jar with a little spatula for hygienic application. I’m not too fond of jars, but it’s the best type of packaging for this richer texture.

Does Bioderma Hydrabio Creme Live Up To Its Claims?

CLAIM TRUE?
Durably and deeply hydrates and nourishes. True.
By eliminating dead cell and reducing progressively the corneum stratum thickness, the salicylic acid evens up and smoothes the skin, for a long-lasting radiant complexion. Salicylic acid can do this, but there’s very little here.
Provides a sensation of softness and comfort. True.
