We’ve finally come to the last instalment on colour corrective concealers. We have already seen whatpink, orange, yellow and purple concealers do and how to use them, so what’s there left to talk about?
Blue concealers of course! They are kinda new on the market and I admit I did do a double take the first time I saw them, wondering what on earth blue concealer could possibly be used for?
As it turns out it’s pretty handy for those girls who use fake tan a lot…
What Are The Benefits Of Blue Concealer?
Blue concealers do two very important jobs:
1. Blue Concealers Reduce Fake Tan Disasters
Did your self tanner gave your skin an unattractive orange color? Or maybe the color’s ok but application was patchy and now some parts of your skin are darker than others? Stop panicking and swipe a blue concealer on the affected areas instead. Blue is the opposite of orange on the color wheel and as such, it can counteract and neutralize orange tones in the skin caused by self-tanners. And it goes without saying that if you spent too much time in the sun and got a bad tan, you can still use blue concealer to reduce its appearance.
2. Blue Concealers Counteract Redness And Dark Circles
Although I prefer green concealers to counteract any red patches you may have on you skin (think pimples or rosacea), blue is another valid option that does the job well. And if you have dark skin, this shade will also help you to hide dark circles.

ok now this I have never heard of! Lavender, yes. Blue…not so much. hmm, I’ve never thought about that tan thing before. Nice post!
Makeup Morsels, that was a quite recent discovery for me too. I first learned about blue concealer when a company sent me a sample to review and I thought “What am I supposed to do with it?!” It worked quite well once I knew what to use it for though. It’s a very handy thing to have for those that like a tan.
Can you tell me what color wheels are pictured here and on the page with the purple concealer? I need new concealer wheels for my kit. Thanks!
Aisha, I found that picture online and it didn’t mention the name of the brand or of the product so I don’t know what it is. But Coastal Scent make concealer palettes that contain blue, green and purple concealers. Hope this helps.
Thanks! I am familiar with Coastal Scents, but never tried their concealers. I ordered the corrective concealer palette and will give it a try!
Aisha, you’re welcome.
I’m so glad I found this blog! I have to wear stage make up for choral performances. This make up tends to make me look orange. I’ve tried all kinds of shades but nothing keeps me from looking like an Oompa-loompa. I have red hair, blue eyes, and very pale complexion. What color primer would help me?
Thx!
Judi, blue neutralizes orange, so I would recommend you opt for a blue primer. Hope this helps.
