Caudalie Vine[Activ] Overnight Detox Oil claims to be stressed skin’s best friend.
Yes, skin gets stressed, too. Wouldn’t you if you were attacked all day by scorching UV rays, freezing cold winds, and all kinds of city pollutants?
A nourishing oil is for your skin like a pampering massage is for your sore back. But is this the right oil for the job? Let’s find out:
What’s In Caudalie Vine[Activ] Overnight Detox Oil?
GRAPE SEED OIL TO MOISTURE SKIN AND FIGHT PREMATURE AGING
Derived from the seeds of grapes, grape seed oil has a lightweight texture that feels less greasy compared to other oils, like coconut and castor.
What does it do? For starters, like all oils, it’s very moisturising: it creates a protective barrier on the skin that slows down water loss.
Plus, this oil is loaded with polyphenols, a group of antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties that fight both free radicals and inflammation (the two main causes of premature aginng).

SWEET ALMOND OIL TO MOISTURISE SKIN
Sweet almond oil is popular in skincare for a reason: it dries quickly. It has a lightweight texture that sinks fast into the skin without leaving a greasy residue behind.
Plus, it’s super moisturising. It creates a barrier on the skin that traps moisture in, helping skin stay soft and hydrated for hours.
ROSEHIP OIL TO FIGHT DRYNESS, PREMATURE AGING, AND ACNE
Rosehip oil isn’t rose oil! Rosehip oil comes from the hips of roses (the radish-like ball roses leave behind after they blossom), not the flower itself. Here’s what it does:
- Moisturising: it’s loaded with linoleic acid, a fatty acid that improves your skin’s barrier function and helps water stay in the skin. Together with vitamin C, it improves senile dryness and slows down aging, too!
- Anti-acne: acne sufferers have less linoleic acid in their sebum than people without acne. Adding it back in helps reduce the size of mini-comedones (mini pimples).
- Antiaging: rosehip is a natural source of vitamin A, an antioxidant that destroys free radicals, boosts collagen and speeds up cellular turnover (i.e., the skin’s natural exfoliating process). That’s 3 ways to keep wrinkles at bay!
- Brightening: vitamin A and linoleic acid help fade away sun spots and discolourations.

Texture
Lightweight, fast-absorbing oil.

Citrusy. It’s lovely, but the citrus oils in here may irritate sensitive skin.
How To Use It
It’s the last step of your skincare routine at night.
Performance & Personal Opinion
I don’t use oils often in my skincare routine. I just don’t like the greasy feel of my skin as I patiently wait for them to sink in.
Caudalie Vine[Activ] Overnight Detox Oil isn’t like that. It’s an oil, but it’s lightweight and absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue behind.
I use it at night before I go to bed instead of moisturiser. When I wake up the next morning, my skin feels softer and smoother. It has a radiant glow, too!
The best part? It didn’t give me pimples. Granted, my skin isn’t oily. If yours is, I don’t recommend you use oils at all. Just in case.
I don’t think facial oils are a must have, but if your skin’s on the dry side, this’ll give it the extra burst of moisture it needs to be healthy and soft again.
P.S. It doesn’t detox skin. Your liver and kidneys, not your skincare, does that.

Does Caudalie Vine[Activ] Overnight Detox Oil Live Up To Its Claims?
CLAIM | TRUE? |
---|---|
Vine[Activ] Overnight Detox Oil helps stressed skin regenerate overnight. | Note how vague this claim is. What does regenerate mean? If it means “creating new skin cells,” it obviously doesn’t. If it means, “makes skin softer and brighter,” then it delivers. |
The skin is left detoxified and the complexion refreshed. | Note how they don’t directly say the oil detoxifies skin. Because it can’t. No skincare products can detoxify skin. |
Rich in omega 6 and vitamin E, it provides a burst of nutrition and repair. | A fancy way of saying it moisturises skin and strengthens its protective barrier. True. |
Its dry oil texture is suitable for all skin types and is quickly absorbed with no sticky finish. | True, but I still wouldn’t use it on oily and/or acne-prone skin. |
