Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils don’t need any introduction. They’ve achieved cult status and are raved about by beauty addicts, bloggers and editors alike.
To say that I am a fan, too, would be an understatement (they are actually my favourite pencil liners). So, what’s so special about them?
P.S. The one I use the most is Zero. I’ll focus on this one for the review:

What’s In Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil In Zero?
Eyeliners are made up of 3 groups of ingredients:
- Pigments to give the eyeliner its colour
- Film formers to deposit a thin layer of colour on your skin
- Waxes to make the eyeliner stay put on the skin
Colour
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil In Zero is a soft black shade. It’s easy to wear and doesn’t look too harsh on pale skin tones.
Texture
It’s so creamy and glides like butter on the lid without tugging nor pulling.
Pigmentation
It’s so pigmented, one swipe is all you need to get opaque coverage. But if you want the black to be more intense, you may want to build it up.
Staying Power
I experience just the tiniest smudging at the outer corner of my eyes after about 8 hours of wear but it is so minor that I don’t really mind it. I’m already home by then so it’s not really a problem for me.
It lasts long on the waterline too. I have watery eyes and most eyeliners last less than half an hour, but after 5 hours, Zero is still there. Pretty amazing, isn’t it?
Fragrance
It’s fragrance-free.
How To Use It
Gently swipe the tip as close to your lash line as possible.
Performance & Personal Opinion
I admit it: when I first tried Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil In Zero, I was disappointed the colour is so soft. Never mind that true, dark blacks look awful on pale skin tones. I still wanted the intensity.
Thank goodness I didn’t get it. Zero is the perfect shade for pale princesses. It defines your lashes without making you look like you’ve just been punched in the face.
Just be quick! Once applied, you have about 30 seconds to blend it out if you want a smokier look. After that, it stays put for the entire day. Ok, it smudges a little after 8 hours, but that’s still pretty impressive in my book.
The best part? It doesn’t sting the eyes. If yours are sensitive, you’ll like how gentle this is.
Who Is It For?
Anyone looking for a soft black eyeliner that lasts for everyday wear.
Who Is This Not For?
Anyone looking for a true, dark black eyeliner for a dramatic look.
Packaging
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil In Zero is a black pencil with a silver cap. It doesn’t have a pencil sharpener or anything like that.

This is a lovely pencil, but I think the new NARS pencil is better.
Jamilla, really? I’d definitely check it out next time I go to Sephora then. 🙂
I have a mini size version of this pencil eyeliner but I’m not very impressed with it. It does smudge on me, although it’s so soft and fabulous for the smokey eyes look.
Dao, what a shame it smudges on you! But you can always use it for smokey eyes with a good primer underneath. I love how creamy this pencil is too.
I love the UD 24/7 pencils. I love how it last it all day long. I didn’t have to reapply during the evening which is great!
Marguerite, I’m glad you love them too. They are very longlasting indeed.
Yeah, I wish UD wasn’t as pricy as it is. But the line that makes is really nice.
Trisha, it’s too bad it is so expensive, isn’t it? But at least it works so well!
i love them, especially the bright colors like the teal I have. great pencils
Vonnie, I agree. The bright colors in this range are so pretty!
I like these pencils a lot. I do have to layer a primer underneath them to prevent smudging, but w/ a primer, they grip on really well. Love the shade range too 🙂
Makeup Morsels, there are some beautiful colors in this range, aren’t there? If one has oily lids, a primer will definitely help to keep them in place for hours. 🙂
I think this works beautifully in any other country except ours! It’s humid down here so I can’t seem to use this! it smudges!
Nikki, aww what a shame! Does that happen even with a primer?
These days, I am loving everything UD is doing. I actually scored 3 of these liners on Ebay for $10
