Did you know that Labello is sold under the Nivea Lip Care brand in some countries? If you thought the tube looked familiar, this is why.
I grew up with Labello’s lip balm. I’m sure I tried pretty much every flavour and variant they make. My fave? Labello Cherry Shine Lip Balm.
What can I say? I’m a sucker for anything cherry…
What’s In Labello Cherry Shine Lip Balm?
CASTOR OIL
Castor oil makes up the base of Labello Cherry Shine Lip Balm. The reason is simple: this stuff is super moisturizing.
Loaded with moisturising fatty acids, castor oil creates a barrier on the skin that reduces water loss. Moisture is now forced to stay into your skin, making them soft and kissable.
Castor oil has another trick up its sleeve. It’s more glossy than other oils, giving your lips a lovely shiny finish.
P.S. You may have heard castor oil can cause dryness and chapped lips. This is true ONLY if you’re allergic to it.
CERA ALBA
Cera Alba is the proper name for beeswax, the stuff honey bees make to build their honeycomb. What is it doing in Labello Cherry Shine Lip Balm?
For starters, it gives the lip balm its solid shape. Plus, it has emollient properties that make your lips softer.
SHEA BUTTER
Shea butter is one of the most moisturizing things on this planet. A fat derived from the nut of the Shea tree, it’s rich in moisturizing fatty acids and antioxidants.
Like castor oil, it creates a protective barrier on the lips that locks moisture in, keeping your pout soft and hydrated for hours. It’s so effective, its moisturizing effects last for up to 8 hours!

Texture
Soft and creamy, it glides smoothly on the lips.
Fragrance
It smells like cherry candy: sweet and delicious.
How To Use It
Apply it wherever you feel your lips need the extra moisture.
Performance & Personal Opinion
Labello Cherry Shine Lip Balm may smell like cherry, but it doesn’t taste like it. In fact, it doesn’t taste like anything!
It’s not necessarily a bad thing. If it tasted as yummy as it smells, it wouldn’t last long on my lips. I’d just eat it all up lol. As it is, it lasts from 2 to 3 hours on me, depending on whether I eat/drink or not.
The lip balm glides smoothly on my lips, keeping them soft and moisturized for a few hours. It is also great to prevent chapped lips during the cold winter months. It can heal them too – with regular use (don’t expect results overnight!).
Once applied, this tinted lip balm leaves behind a soft wash of red colour on the lips. The colour is subtle, the shine isn’t (thanks castor oil!). The shiny, wet-look finish is really beautiful.
If you want a more intense colour payoff, you can always layer it.
Who Is This For?
Anyone who wants a tinted, shiny lip balm.
Who Is This Not For?
- If you don’t like tinted lip balms, this isn’t for you.
- If you have very dry lips, this isn’t the most moisturizing lip balm for you.

Icaria, you’re welcome. It’s a lovely lip balm: moisturizing, shiny and with a hint of colour. It’s perfect for this season.
This sounds awesome. And I like that the color is sheer. That’s more my style, generally.
Yay! Scented lip balm!
Trisha, it is awesome indeed and the scent is so delicious! 🙂
The non-wet shine version of this was an obsession of mine for quite a while.
Ana, I tried that one too and, while I prefer the shiny version, I can easily see why you were obsessed with that one. Labello really makes some addictive lip balms.
i love this!!!! this is the only one that i will actually finish, and repurchase. i have finished 3 sticks! /pats self on back
Xin, this one is really easy to finish, isn’t it? It’s so addictive and delicious! 🙂

Sorry I haven’t been commenting. I’ve been too busy since I’m turning in an app this Friday to a school I really want to get into.
I will comment on all of the posts I’ve missed, promise!
I am loving Pride and Prejudice (I finish a book VERY slowly because I don’t read very much at once). I’m after the part where Mr. Collins marries __ (don’t want to spoil it for anyone) and Lizzy is disappointed at her friend.
Janessa, you do try it. I’m sure you will love it. It’s a delicious treat for the lips!
And don’t worry about that. Getting into that school is more important and I wish you all the best. They would be crazy to turn you down! 🙂
I like to read book slowly too, especially good ones. That way it lasts longer and you can enjoy it for a long while. And I feel sorry for Charlotte. She may have chosen her husband (a very poor and reproachable choice indeed), but being married to him mustn’t be pleasant!
Have you seen Lizzie Bennet’s diaries?

Ana, nope, but I’ll go check it out now. Sounds interesting. Thank you! 🙂
