What’s In The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care SPF 15?
UV FILTERS
The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care SPF 15 uses a bunch of synthetic UV filters to provide broad spectrum protection:
- Octisalate: A.k.a Ethylhexyl Salicylicate, an UVB filter with a slightly oily consistency and a mild floral scent.
- Octocrylene: An UVB filter that helps avobenzone last longer, coat the skin better and make the sunscreen water-resistant.
- Avobenzone: An UVA filter that’s very unstable (i.e. stops working quickly when exposed to light) on its own. It’s absorbed by the body (and expelled quickly through urine), so it’s not recommended during pregnancy.

NATURAL OILS
The base of The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care SPF 15 is made up of moisturising natural oils. Castor and olive, to be exact.
These oils are rich in fatty acids, some of the most moisturising substances on this planet. They strengthen your skin’s protective barrier, filling in any holes and crannies so moisture can’t evaporate out anymore.
When moisture stays into your lips, they naturally get softer and smoother – ready to be kissed.

Texture
Its texture is just right: not so creamy to easily melt but not too hard either. It glides smoothly on the lips.
Fragrance
The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care SPF 15 has a delicate, pleasant sweet scent that reminds me of both coconut and vanilla – delicious.
How To Use It
Apply liberally on the lips every time you feel the need to.
Performance & Personal Opinion
The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care SPF 15 is pretty moisturizing, leaving lips soft and smooth for about three hours before it’s time to reapply. Pretty impressive, isn’t it? Usually, I have to reapply lip balm after a couple of hours…
But it can’t heal chapped lips like it claims. If that’s what you need, try La Roche Posay Lip balm, instead.
Still, I dig it. Blame it on the coconutty scent. Makes it such a pleasure to use.

Packaging
The lip balm comes in a twist-up tube which is pretty, hygienic and easy to carry around with you. I’m glad it comes in a tube as I much prefer this type of packaging to a pot.

Jamilla, you’re welcome. I think it’s a nice lip balm but there are better ones out there and I was really bummed that it doesn’t offer broad spectrum protection.
this is one of the first few lip balms that I have purchased myself, and i have to agree that it doesn’t provide much for the dry lips. there are many choices out there with same functions, doing similar or better job at cheaper price 😀
