Riz, it’s impossible to tell it if it’s a breakout or a purge without knowing what the products contain, where the breakouts are happening. Please, answer the 3 questions in the post above to figure it out. 🙂

Hi. I’ve been using this rejuvenating set for almost 3weeks, it resulted fine not until 3 days ago, I had a lot of small pimples on my cheeks and it’s very itchy. It is possible to have skin purging just recently, after using this product for almost three weeks??

Avni, no. This doesn’t cause purging.

Brianna, thank you for your kind words. So glad you like my content. To answer your questions:

1. Dryness isn’t usually a sign of purging, but it’s a sign of overexfoliation. You’re not supposed to exfoliate daily.
2. Fragrance is bad only if it irritates your skin. If it doesn’t, you can use the products safely. Work them in one at a time and see how your skin reacts.
3. In theory, using too many irritants like citrus oils could cause unseen damage. But again, it all depends on the dose. In tiny amounts, very few things cause real harm.
4. I’d stay away from all retinoids during nursing, just to be on the safe side.

I just discovered your blog from the Beauty Within YouTube channel and I love the info you’re putting out. So, I suspect I’m going through a purge because I have been breaking out a lot since I started really paying attention to my skin care again and using AHAs. However, I’m not new to them. Long story short, I suffered with acne pretty much my whole life but after I had my first son it got a lot worse. I used acne.org, cleared it up in a couple months. But then I got really neglectful with my skin care, wasn’t wearing sunscreen, sleeping in makeup. Baby #2 rolls around and I got very bad melasma during the pregnancy and afterwards, more acne. Hence, why I’m getting back into skincare but being more intricate with my skin than acne.org. But I have a few questions:
1. Can another sign of purging Be dryness? I get flaky and dry around my melasma areas and I’m wondering if my skin is shedding to renew itself. I usually have oily skin so this dryness is a shock to my system.
2. I recently bought a ton of products with fragrance, well just 2 from Belif (toner and moisturizer) and 2 from Glow recipe (Moisturizers), I did the awful thing of using them all at once (because I’m starting a whole new regimen so I kind of had to) but after learning about fragrance in skincare, I stopped using them and invested in fragrance free products, aside from my cleansers since they’re wash-off treatments so I’m assuming they’re harmless. Would you recommend I toss the products or work them in one at a time to see how my skin reacts? I’d hate to waste the money but I don’t want to harm my skin just tho safe money. This brings me to my next question…
3. Can a product be irritating or cause damage to the skin and not FEEL irritating?
4. Are there any products/ingredients you recommend avoiding while nursing?
*so sorry that was so long but if you answer that’ll be much appreciated!!
